Gespenst IV MP-Prototype, Ill-Luck Captured in Action- Incident 002 "Return to the Ruins of Valentine"Background: A derivative of the incredibly popular Gespenst frame, this MkIV version was designed with ease of support in mind for sale to smaller nations. As a result it was equipped with 'yestertech', a collection of solid-round weapons and lasers. Any country with basic metal production and a power generator could supply it, making it useful for self-defense forces for various independent colonies or splinter nations. This particular prototype was assigned to use of Junior Test Pilot Seth Uesegi just prior to the disaster at Mitsuhama's Organization Three test facility. It was one of the few operable designs recovered by Morita Takashi when he escaped the facility with the prototype Ra Cailum-class "Lion of Wessex". As a result of Morita's orders to retrieve as many prototypes as possible, supplies to support a standard beam weapon and beam coating simply weren't available, and Pilot-Technician Jessica Albam fitted early prototypes to replace them. The model proved woefully underpowered, unfortunately. After barely escaping a first attempt to retrieve supplies from the wreckage of the Bloody Valentine incident, a second attempt was met with a highly customized Wing Gundam variant, and the pilot was forced to eject. They had few working units, and even an underpowered machine like the Mk IV had been incredibly useful. Worse, they still had tons of space taken up by supplies and spare parts now without a unit to be used on, and without a reliable source of supplies, wasting them simply wasn't allowable. Enter Jessica Albam's team to retrofit the cockpit into a cobbled together frame built from every spare part they could scrounge and using the computer from the Mk IV. The real trouble was replacing the reactor. The problem was solved by building a hybrid Fusion/Fission reactor to get enough output, as well as tripling the battery storage from the Mk IV. In addition, the armor was replaced with spare parts from prototypes with more advanced armor, giving it greater structural integrity with the same mass. Most of the weapons were simply slightly upgraded versions of the Mk IV's. The exception was that the fission reactor allowed them to replace the Gauss weapon with a higher-efficiency laser cannon, as well as a Psycommu-controlled modified Omoi Kousen system. Additionally it mounted prototype ramjet fueled ion-based Verniers. However, much of the fine control had to be taken off-line to activate them, making close combat inadvisable. Unfortunately most of the EOT and NTM advances were lost with Iyasu's death. The prototype itself survived, and would be refitted by Jessica Albam's team to incorporate the new advances developed in-house at the Schloss Weber. The original beam saber and point defense systems were kept, as well as the high-output Beam Saber design spearheaded by Maxwell Geronius of Mitsuhama. (one of the technicians who escaped with the Lion of Wessex crew) It also sported the first offensive Refraction weapons, in the form of a resupplyable collection of grenades, basically a power source and randomized refraction emitter that could either blast random holes in an enemy or use it in a barrier format to effectively freeze the target in place. It also carried a high-output 2nd Generation Refractor Field. Unlike the 1st Generation, this was capable of presenting a solid wall of the micro pinpoints, protecting the unit in a similar manner to EOT Singularity tech. It was also the first Schloss team mecha to incorporate reactor technology from the Nehan no Buki, specifically the Omoi Kousen attack. Dozens of missile ports were replaced with laser emitters and hooked up to a secondary fission reactor, allowing an Omoi Kousen attack to be executed. Like the original the attack could destroy the unit, but the more standard laser emitters meant that no matter how much power was pumped into them, it could only fire four times before they would be ruined. None of these gave this Huckebein model a primary weapon to match the Black Hole Cannon, until an experiment attempting to recreate EOT tech went awry. The singularity chamber of the rifle dropped drastically in temperature, appearing to actually hit absolute zero. EOT let them keep it contained, while a gravitic Induction system was retrofit to the rifle and enabled them to propel blasts of the Absolute Zero without it coming into contact with anything. A laser was attached to the front to ionize an atmosphere in front of the blast as it fired to keep it from wasting energy freezing the air. Step Sideways- A curious phenomenon caused by the interaction of a 3rd Generation Refractor Field and removing the emmission safeties from an Induction Ramjet Vernier that causes the area surrounded by the Refractor Field to partially fade from this dimension, skimming between realities. The theory behind it and the feeling the pilot has when executing it led to its informal designation as Stepping Sideways. While the unit is quite effectively invincible while doing it, the technique puts great stress on the pilot and requires immense amount of energy to maintain. Background: This unit was uncovered by Morita Takashi on an expedition for Organization Three. Dubbed 'Mechanized Artillery' by the cockpit computers, the machine predates the minovsky particle and even the space colonies. The ancient machine was originally equipped with a extremely high output fission reactor and dozens of laser hardpoints, as well as an seperation system. It took well over a year to refit the design to function with modern parts, but Morita took the project as his own. The refit still has the same high output fission reactor and most of the laser hardpoints, but everything was upgraded to modern specifcations, particularly the armor. Having spent a sizable amount of his salary on the machine, Morita considers it his own 'super robot'.

Background: Further research into the archeotech of the Nehan no Buki led to the design of a prototype upgrade. While the incredibly fast recharge time of the original design simply isn't recreatable, the Taiyaku Kaze was designed with a slightly higher battery capacity. The real upgrade, however, was in the armor, with twice the integrity of the Nehan no Buki's. The weapons were new as well. The laser emitters were placed under the control of multiple systems, allowing a wider power range. While the strongest beam couldn't compare with the Overload capability of the original, having only a fourth the power, it was still incredibly powerful, capable of destroying a small battleship in one shot. And unlike the Overload, it could be used multiple times without destroying the unit. The Taiyaku Kaze's only real weakness stems from Mitsuhama's failure to recreate the high-output generator from the original, meaning that its necessary to watch the power drain. Its long range capabilities, however, led to its being adopted by the NTM project as a support unit for the main series.
