The states listed in this thread as being part of the "Eastern United States" are largely incorrect and show a drastic lack of knowledge about the four regions of the US. The regions are as follows:
-U.S. Midwest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midwest) -U.S. Northeast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Northeast) -U.S. South (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Southern_states) -U.S. West (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._West)
Please correct the thread immediately, as most of the states listed are either Midwestern or Southern states.

So your proposing having 4 threads instead of 2, I don't see why we need to divide the USA into 4 threads.. East and West suffice.
Don't let the name of the thread fool you into thinking that it the RL Eastern United States, It was never meant to be and thus isn't.

Heaven forbid we use a different source. The Mississippi River is historically the most important dividing line between east and west in the U.S., so there's reason enough to split it there. That's not to say that some other divisions wouldn't also make sense, but why complain?

I am not ignorant of this division of the United States. I used the Mississipi River as a dividing line for the same reason that has already been sited. It is historically significant, and it makes for a sensible delineation.
Let me further compound, that I was born in the Midwest, have lived in the Southwest, lived in the Northwest, lived in the Northeast. Except the Southwest and Northwest don't appear as divisions in this list, when I consider them, particularly the Southwest, equally significant. The only place in the Continental United States I have not been is very far near Florida.
I was born in the United States, and have lived all over it during my life, as well as visited quite a bit more. I am not constrained by the United States Census Bureau when I categorize things, for the purposes of a simple game.

Further, I would like to point out Kira and I both looked at a map and thought a dividing line another column states west was logical for a dividing point, although I understand using the Mississippi for the reasons above.
Why is this such a big deal, Berrik?
