This unit was acquired by the Institute when Kait's combat unit was giving out some of the Federation's grunt units, free of charge. Julius immediately jumped at such a wonderful bargain, and his promptness netted the Centre this Hi-Zack for training and light combat use. The latest unit to come out of XEPHIA's research labs, the Turn-X is a fabled mobile suit that is so powerful that legends swirl around about it's capabilities. Some say it is able to regenerate all damage by itself without repairs. Some say it is capable of splitting itself up into its individual body parts and swarm a victim. Yet others say it has the capability to destroy all technology in a certain area around it. All these legends are partially correct, as the Centre's staff discovered when a piece of the Turn-X's structure came into the hands of the XEPHIA Technological Centre. Using Getter energy to excite the nanomachines in that sample of the Turn-X, the Centre's staff managed to reproduce a 100% accurate working replica of the original Turn-X from just that piece of armor. As the Centre discovered during tests of the mobile suit, the Turn X was indeed able to repair itself, and also have an extremely high energy output to keep up with the array of powerful weapons it possesses. Last but not least, the Turn-X was discovered to really possess the ability to destroy all technology in a certain radius around it, by the use of the Moonlight Butterfly. Such a capability ensured that the Centre's staff would never casually use the Turn-X on any occasion. When Mahoro first saw the Turn-X, she immediately fell in love with it and its Shining Finger attack, and claimed the Turn-X as her personal unit ever since. As such, she has modified the Shining Finger into her own Shining Darkness attack. Work was also done to make the Turn-X's structure more modular, thus allowing it to carry more optional equipment. The offshoot of the currently ongoing project to upgrade the Wing Gundam and the Tallgeese, this Gundam Epyon was nevertheless dangerous enough to ensure that the Centre placed it in the hands of the right pilot. Originally created with violent melee combat in mind, it accomplishes its task well with the Variable Energy Beam Sword that is directly plugged into the Gundam's reactor, thus giving it an extremely high power output for a melee beam weapon. The Heat Rod also does a good job of slicing and dicing opponents up too, with its rapid rate of attack. In addition, it was able to transform into a Mobile Armor mode that closely resembles a two headed dragon, bestowing even more agility to the machine at the cost of some weapons. Most importantly, it has the deadly Zero System installed in the machine, giving the pilot a direct connection to the Gundam and improving all aspects of both pilot and machine. The Institute's Gundam Epyon is claimed by Maya Natsume as her personal machine, as she has a penchant for short range combat and excels at swordfighting, thus fitting the capabilities of the Epyon well. Rumors are also currently swirling around about Maya's expert use of the whip-like Heat Rod on the Epyon, but that is another story for another day.
