Suggestions for Motherships

Ships still arn't very popular unit choices in battle. Most people only use one in Events. I'd like to try to promote more popular use of them in normal battles, however. To further this end, I have 2 suggestions.

1) Ships can use any equipped perishable on an ally instead of themself. This is backed up by the games, as ships can use perishables on an allied unit that's adjacent to the ship.

2) Ships can Countershoot regardless of class, as long as the ship in question has CSing weapons OR Ships can Countershoot as long as one of the SAMW slots is filled with a class with Countershoot. I think it makes sense that a ship can use it's support personnel to man the AA guns. It's not the captain that does it.

You all may have not noticed but there are some ships that can dodge really good(not the mothership ones).

Also im adding the suggestion about a Firepower Support thing much like in G Gen F, where ships support attack along with the lead unit. Although regarding this... this may only be mostly available on Events or such.

I agree with #2 but #1 sounds alitle bit off, i dont think a perishable instaleld in another unit can be used on the ship

That's not that I said. The ship can use a perishable on an adjacent unit.

Umb's ideas sound good to me. I'm not exactly sure of a good way to implement Mothership support fire from GGen, but if someone can come up with something, it'd be worth looking at.

Both suggestions sound good. About #1, though...most ships have only one or two IS. Would it be feasable to have each ship have a "side bar" of item slots reserved for only perishables to be used on allied units, with a capacity equal to the number of regular IS that the ship has?

The comment at the end of #2 reminds me of this - but it's still a good suggestion.

Rayearth's idea of a sidebar sounds good in general - part of the reason it can be worthwhile to give perishables to motherships in SRW is that some motherships have 3 or 4 IS.

I agree with both suggestions. In one of the SRWs (I think it was A or R), the ships can use their perishables on other units. And on the GBA-series SRWs, ships like Ra Cailum have had more than one IS--in fact, it had 4 in SRWR and SRWD. (I think it's only an Alpha-series convention that all ships have only one IS.)

Rayearth's suggestion of including a support item sidebar for Motherships sounds like a good alternative, too.

Another suggestion I had in mind for quite a long time was removing the locked DC, but keeping minimum DC for ships at 15.

Maybe once size rules are enforced ships could gain DR based on the difference in size between the mothership and the attacking mech? It doesn't really address a ship's insane vulnerability to direct attacked status weapons but nothing aside from the boss tag really fixes that when you have a high DC, and it's hard to justify giving ships a lower DC.

In D, at least, I know that ships can use items on allies. It was the solution to one of the Submissions.

I'm thinking of editing Mothership Class to include 2 sidebar IS to be used solely for perishables.

And Wes, Size is active. An optional rule, sure, but it is usable.

Well, which one? There's 2 setups for the Countershot mod, and everyone just went "Yes", instead of saying which one.

Both are fine seeing we rarely see battleships on the forefront, plus its a good addition that perishable slots may be used for other units. About the countershoot, aint it obvious that ships mostly countershoot and the crew are just normal people with no classes.
